Y Cube Mookata: One of the best Mookata Thai in Singapore
Tuck in our very own ‘Little Thailand’ in Singapore, Golden Mile is where you can find one of the best Mookata Thai in Singapore, Y Cube Mookata.
Owned by a friend of ours, it has been established for years as one of the pioneers in its league. I was told recently that they did a slight renovation to the outlet.
It was a rainy evening on a Saturday, the perfect weather to sit back and enjoy a barbeque. My team and I decided to pay a visit to Y Cube Mookata for dinner.
Located on the 2nd floor, one obvious change in the restaurant will be the flooring. Now is green carpeted. Honestly, it looked refreshing, but I wonder if someone accidentally spilled something onto it, how are they going to clean it up. Well, I shall let the restaurant management think about that. Generally, why I have always enjoyed my Mootaka at Y Cube because it is spacious, clean, and it is air-conditioned.
We were greeted by a waiter and asked to settle the bill by Cash or Nets only before entering. There were rows of tables and each placed a Mookata pot.
Due to the current Covid-19 situation, unlike in the past, you won’t be able to go freely to pick your preferred ingredients. However, you will be given a stack of order sheets to tick your choices, and the waiter will prepare them for you.
If I remembered correctly, you were entitled to more choices than those listed on the order sheet. At least most of my favourite ingredients were still present.
For seafood, I went for their Prawn, Flower Crab, Cray Fish, Half Shell Scallop, Marinated Fish and Marinated Prawns. Thereafter, Bak Choy, Coral Lettuce, Enoki Mushroom, Mama Noodle and Egg for the vegetable selections. Finally, down to the meat, my favourite would be their Sesame Chicken followed by Pork Belly. Other options which I would add on will be Sausage, Fish Ball, Luncheon Meat, Thai Fish Cake and Quail Egg.
Within minutes, you were served with well-marinated meats, well-prepared vegetables, and fresh seafood placed on your table. Just came in a time when the ring of soup was boiled and hotplate steaming warm.
I understand from Elvis (the boss) that his team wakes up early morning to handpick their fresh seafood from the main market daily. You can’t get any better than this.
Yes, I believed some of you must be thinking, how are you going to cook Flower Crab on a hotplate or how you extract the Crayfish meat from the shell. Not to worry, the staff at Y Cube Mookata will teach you how to do it or even do it for you.
When there is a free flow of foods, it also comes with free flow of drinks and desserts. How can you do without their popular Thai Milk Tea? They served different favours of syrup drinks and ice-creams too.
Y Cube Mookata is still my preferred destination when comes to Thailand Mookata. From their services to their fresh ingredients, you will have a happy ending when dining here.
