TukTuk Thai Bistro: Great Little Thai Restaurant
Have you ever wonder, how would Thailand cuisine taste like in Vietnam? Well, I heard a lot about Tuk Tuk Thai Bistro, serving great Thailand food, from my Vietnamese colleagues and decided to give it a try.
THE EXPERIENCE
It was lunch hour on a Monday, and it was full house at TukTuk Thai Bistro. We waited outdoor for about 15 minutes before we manage to get a table.
It’s not a big restaurant but the walls were well decorated with nice Thailand paintings.
Tuk Tuk Thai Bistro did cater the balance between common and unique Thailand cuisines in its menu. Example, for the starter, you would see, Thai sago dumplings with pork & peanuts, Thai fish cakes with sweet & sour chili sauce, Spicy raw prawns with bitter melon in sour chili sauce etc.
For their main, you get to experience their Grilled pork skewers with green papaya salad, Grilled marinated sea bass fillet with chili lime sauce, Crispy soft-shell crab with salted egg yolk curry or tamarind sauce, Grilled U.S. beef E-sarn style among other dishes.
Of course, being a Thailand restaurant, you can’t go without the classics, such as Tom Yum Kun, Green Curry Chicken, Deep fried chicken wrapped with pandan leaves etc.
Since was just the 2 of us, I went for their Green Curry Chicken, Tom Yum Seafood, and Sweet-Sour Thai Steamed Fish.
While waiting for our dishes, we saw a lady tourist, debating over a wrong dish been sent to her. I could tell that she was very unhappy. I was wondering if they would repeat that mistake for my table.
BINGO!!! They sent me the wrong dish which belonged to the table next to me. Luckily, I didn’t take a bite of it if not; it would have been embarrassing for everyone.
Unfortunately, my orders only arrived 20 minutes later. Truthfully, apart from the fact that the dishes were served warm, I couldn’t speak any better about the taste of some of them.
The Green Curry Chicken wasn’t spicy, and too sweet for my liking. As for the Tom Yum Seafood, it lacked balanced ingredients. There were too many mushrooms and barely any prawns in there.
However, I would compliment the Sweet-Sour Thai Steamed Fish. It was delicious, and I liked that unique sour taste they have there. They truly nailed this dish.
THE OUTCOME
It would be clear to me that the staffs at this restaurant will require lots of training. This is not a cheap restaurant to regular at given the standard of dishes I tried today.
