Nha Bun Hanoi – One of the best homemade Vermicelli noodles
The last time I was in Ho Chi Minh, an old friend invited me to lunch at her Vietnamese homemade vermicelli noodle restaurant. The restaurant was quite a ways from my hotel, which was in district 1, and cost around 180k dong to reach.
When I arrived, my friend was waiting for me in front of the restaurant. As polite as always, she brought me to my table and passed me a simple menu with only six variations of their specialty Vermicelli Crab Noodles (Bún Cua Đậu). I ordered the Vermicelli Crab Noodles with Beef (Bún Cua Đậu Chả Cây Bò).
While waiting for my order, I enjoyed the homely atmosphere. It was a nice change to the typical main district restaurants.
My noodles arrived fairly quickly, giving off a mouth-watering aroma that stimulated the appetite. The broth was rich and flavourful, a perfect balance between the tender beef, fresh crab and spices. I left feeling full and satisfied.
All in all, this trip was definitely worth it; for just 35k dong, I was able to eat one of the best Vermicelli Crab Noodles I’ve ever had. I’ll definitely be going back for more.
If reading this made you hungry for some noodles, I recommend getting there early because some days, they can be sold out by 11am. Also, you don’t need to worry about not being able to speak Vietnamese because the owner can speak both English and Mandarin. You can also point to the pictures of menu items on the wall and signal how many dishes you’d like.
