Marco Polo Chinese Cuisines: Best known for their Tim Sum
Whether by day or by night, I am always hungry to search out good places for Tim Sum.
I was recommended by a business associate that one of the better Tim Sum places she visited is Marco Polo. While I did a search on the web, amazing because this place looks like a high end Chinese restaurant. Let’s try it out.
Me and my colleagues arrived at 10:15am but it was closed. Only then we realised that the restaurant opens for business at 11am. Glad that there are shops nearby to pass time.
While waiting for the restaurant was about to open for business, we can see that a queue is starting to build up. I am glad that I can see a queue so at least this means the Tim Sum was worth waiting for.
Finally, the wait is over, and we were ushered to our table. Most of the servers were Cantonese speaking. We went ahead, ordering the standard Tim Sum dishes such as Siew Mai, Rice Roll with Prawns, Rice Roll with Char Siew, Fish Balls, Egg Tarts, Prawn Dumplings and Pork Steam Buns.
Generally, the taste is subjected to individual to think if they are good or normal. Personally, I felt that I am paying more for ambience. It is a nicely decorate restaurant but maybe their specialty is not in their Tim Sum because they taste normal. I tasted one of the best egg tarts in Vietnam surprisingly I didn’t mention Singapore, but this tasted normal. The Fish Balls, Pork Steam Buns, Siew Mai and Prawn Dumplings tasted usual. Both Pork and Prawn Rice Rolls are ok but too fine to pick up with a chop stick so the fillings in the rice roll falls apart and you end up using a spoon to pick them up.
Overall, the bill is not cheap I must say given the standard, but I will credit them for their hospitality and services. Perhaps I will revisit them to try their main cuisines during dinner.
