Hotel Grand Paragon: Convenient and Affordable Hotel to stay
I have decided to go for a change of hotel for this trip to Malaysia, Johor, looking for a hotel closer to a shopping mall and food centers/restaurants and so we decided on Hotel Grand Paragon as it was an affordable hotel to stay in.
THE EXPERIENCE
Though the hotel has been around for years but from the view of the lobby, it has been well maintained. We had a good feeling this would be a good stay.
When I received my room on the 24th floor, everything looked good and new with a great view of the city. However, I felt something was not quite right, but I couldn’t sense what it was. Nonetheless, I decided to go for lunch while also getting some drinks and snacks to store in my fridge.
The hotel is in a perfect location for me. It was less than 5 minutes walk to my grandmother’s house and probably less than a 10-minute walk to KSL Shopping Mall. There are a lot of restaurants and cafés nearby especially my favourite Cedar Food Centre and back lane street stalls near my grandmother’s home at Century Garden.
When I came back slightly more than an hour, only then did I realise, the air-con did not function well. My room was not cold. I gave a call to the receptionist regarding the issue. Within 15 minutes, the electrician came up to check on the problem and said that there was a problem with the air-con, requesting a room change for me. Guess what? They upgraded me to a suite. I was impressed not because I was given a suite but their efficient service of taking care of a customer.
Well, the suite was a great start for me. A bedroom, bar counter, living room, and 2 toilets. Perfect!
However, I realised that the WIFI network was weak to non-existent, and the TV programs were limited.
On the 2nd day, my buddy and I decided to take a dip into the hotel pool. The water was clean and cool enough for a swim. The view over the city was good with a beautiful sunset.
THE OUTCOME
Grand Paragon has become my regular hotel to stay in whenever I am in Johor Bahru. Not just because is near to my grandmother’s home, but for food centers, shopping areas, and entertainment, convenience will be key.
