Eggslut: Famously known for their Legendary scrambled egg sandwich
When the news spread about Eggslut, opening a branch in Singapore, everyone was so looking forward to it, and I was no exception. Apart from their ‘attention-seeking name’, I have been hearing so many good reads about their scrambled egg sandwich. I can’t wait to have a bite and taste it.
THE EXPERIENCE
It was a rainy weekday at about 6pm, I thought maybe I won’t be caught by a long queue, but I was wrong. There was already a long queue of about 10+ tables before me. Anyway, since I was already there, might as well just wait. Luckily the rain has stopped because the queue was built all the way to the unsheltered area.
I managed to get into the restaurant after about 30 minutes. An usher directed me to the cashier to place my order from a very simple menu. The friendly waitress gave me some of her recommendations when I told her that this was my first visit to Eggslut. Thanks to her, I went for the simplest combination of Applewood Smoked Bacon, Cage-free over medium egg, Cheddar Cheese between 2 Slices of Brioche Buns. It was the first thing on the menu and I wrapped up my order with a can of Coke.
After about 10 minutes wait, I was to walk over to the collection counter to receive my orders. Well, from the look at how it was presented, nothing out of the ordinary. The taste of the scrambled egg sandwich, truthfully, I can’t taste any difference served by any other typical breakfast cafes I visited.
THE OUTCOME
At the end of the day, is just eggs, bacon, and cheese between 2 buns. For the price of it, whether it was worth it, maybe not so much for me. However, I will consider returning to try their other options such as their Fairfax Sandwich. Hopefully, it won’t be another disappointment.
