Crystal Crown Hotel: Most affordable hotel with great service
This year, instead of traveling far, I decided to spend my birthday closer to my family in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Taking this opportunity, I decided to choose another hotel to stay in rather than my usual one. I was recommended by a friend to try Crystal Crown Hotel, for their services and affordable hotel rental rates. I went ahead with Agoda and made a booking for their Executive Studio room.
Wherever I go, whichever hotel I stay, I will always make my standard requests such as a high floor, quiet room, non-smoking room, and good view, hence, I dropped the hotel management a text message, noting to them that it was also my birthday trip. It better be good because I am going to stay here for 5 days.
Arrived at about 10am, I was greeted by a friendly hotel receptionist, and I managed to get his name, Jason. Usually, in JB, most hotels will only allow you to check in at 3pm, and if you are lucky, maybe 12pm. It was a lucky day for me because my room was ready, and they allowed me to check in early. Paid my RM100 refundable security deposit, and I was only given a key card to access the room.
To my surprise, the moment I opened the door, I saw Happy Birthday balloons pinned onto the wall, and the whole room was filled with balloons. The management made the effort to do a simple Birthday decoration for my occasion. The room was very spacious, and the toilet is clean. Everything else such as the dryer, kettle television, etc. was in great working condition. Crystal Crown has just made a fantastic start to my day in JB.
If there are suggestions I can make, maybe it will be good to have 2 key cards instead of one. You can’t make ice and the drinks aren’t cold every time the key card is removed from the room. Electricity will be cut off.
Perhaps more television channels. Lastly, the drop-off point can be quite messy because there is no indication that it is a 1 way, hence leading drivers coming in from both left and right. Safety will be the concern. For those who are light sleepers, the best is to have your earplugs with you. The hotel is next to the main road so till midnight, you can still hear vehicles roaming the streets.
Generally, I will be back due to affordable rental rates and get 4-star services from a 3-star hotel. Thanks to Jason and Kardi for keeping the standards.
