Com Tam Cali
In Ho Chi Minh City, there is this franchise restaurant which I enjoy pretty simple much for lunch. That’s Com Tam Cali. It is just located behind my usual hotel I am approximately 5 minutes’ walk away.
A very simple decorate restaurant with cushion seats, I believe their company colours are purple and yellow because their signatures, wall paints and their table pamphlets were designed with such colours.
Nevertheless, I am quite a regular at this place and have been eating here for the past 8 years. Every trip to Ho Chi Minh City, I will have my lunch at least once here.
The few dishes specially recommended will be their Pork Belly Broken Rice (made from rice with fractured rice grains) with Egg set, ClayPot Braised Fish, ClayPot Pork with Shrimps and not forgetting their Pumpkin Soup.
I like the way the BBQ the Pork Belly is made; Crispy on the skin and sweet tender on the meat. Claypot Braised Fish is tasty with it’s light sauce blended to the meat. The Claypot Pork with Shrimps is my option if the BBQ Pork Belly ran out of stock. However, the 1 soup I like most from them is their clear Pumpkin Soup served in a Pumpkin husk. It is sweet and full of taste.
The only disadvantage about the restaurant is that at times by lunch hours, they ran out of selective dishes. Having eaten at this particular outlet for a long time, the dishes served can be a little inconsistent in taste. Still, I like dining here because it is inexpensive. Nothing much to complain about given the price of these dishes.
