Chocolate Ville
I have always wanted to visit Chocolate Ville after seeing so many nice Instagram photos on it, surely it is going to be an amazing place to visit in Bangkok.
However, it is quite a ride if you are staying in the central. The ride will take you probably about an hour, depending on the congested traffic we always experience in Bangkok and the cost of a 1-way trip can amount to about 350 baht (I suggest using GRAB or Uber whichever is cheaper or having promotion). The moment I arrived, the first thing I did was to take out my camera phone and snapped the Windmill at the entrance. The entrance is so well decorated, and you can witness so many tourist and locals snapping photos all the way.
I took a walk inside and the whole setup was amazing. How should I describe it? It is very ‘Frenchy Retro’ feel for me. Every house is nicely built and decorated based on individual themes and you will love to shoot or do a selfie with anyone of them can be that amazing.
Now to the main objective of this review, the cuisines offered by this amazing place. At the heart of Chocolate Ville, is where the dining areas are located. Some parts are sheltered, and some parts are not. I am emphasizing this point because it was raining a little that evening when I was there. However, I went for the open area because they have one of the best seats by the ponds where you can see ducks and swans swimming near your table. It is indeed a very romantic sight if you are having a date with you while Chocolate Ville plays jazzy background music by Michael Bubble. Ah… a perfect atmosphere I really soaked in.
With the menu placed in front of me, I took about 15 minutes to decide what I want to eat because it was extensive. They have a wide range of cuisines from Italian, French, Japanese, Chinese and so on. You name it, they have it. I was considering between Western or Thai food. Going for western will suit the ambience well with a nice plate of steak and a glass of red wine. However, my friends decided to go with an Asian taste.
We went with a Hong Kong Style Steam Fish, Mixed Vegetables and Tom Yum Seafood. Honestly, the price is not cheap, and I am sure you can get better rates and tastes somewhere else in Bangkok. The Hong Kong Style Steam Fish was the least presentable, looked broken up but tasted ok… but if I am to comment further, is kind of salty.
However, the fish is fresh, and meat is tender. As for the Tom Yum Seafood, too spicy for me and insufficient ingredients for the price you are paying. Mix vegetables is tasted normal for me.
At the end of the day, since entry is free, go capture as many photos as you want with your date and probably catch a drink by the river. It is a romantic place to be.
