Nha Trang, a city which holds one of the most popular beaches in Vietnam and when comes to beaches, you can’t escape the temptations of fresh seafood and specialties of Nha Trang.

On my 2nd day, I decided to take a walk along the city area of Nha Trang and it is so filled with people, especially tourists. Honestly speaking, I see more tourists with the majority coming from China than locals apart from the sales people in stores and restaurants.

Well, guess what I realized? Every 5 stores, there is a restaurant between them, excluding the street stalls. The 1 seafood you will see them selling commonly is lobster. Trust me, if you are a lobster lover, this is one place that will neverbbe lack of it. It is everywhere. Is just a matter of how many.

I did restaurant hopping just to check on the market value of their serve. Aside for street stalls, the restaurants at the city area are not cheap. I got a feeling that Vung Tau is even cheaper. Prices can range from 2 million dong/kg onwards. The cheapest I can get is 1.8 million dong/kg onwards. Even prices for crabs is on the high side.

Then I was recommended a restaurant by a local and he directed us to Bien Dong. All I can say is this is a great place to be.

The restaurant setup is nothing fanciful with just tables and chairs but what I am very interested in was their seafood.

Cheap is the word. The price is less expensive by at least 40% and most importantly, they are fresh! I went for a 700g Steamed Crab, 1200g Salted Egg Yolk Lobster and a plate of Stirred Fried Spinach.

Honestly, I didn’t put high expectations on how the taste will turn out but amazingly, the taste is not bad. Especially the Steamed Crab. It was tender & juicy. The Lobster is sweet and blended well with the Salted Egg Yolk. Perhaps the Stirred Fried Spinach might be a little too oily for my liking.

Generally, not bad for a revisit unless you have time to explore further, I am sure there will be better alternatives.
