Ho Seng Kee Wanton Noodle Review: Popular Wanton Noodle restaurant in JB

Before the pandemic, my cousin and I frequently ate wanton noodles at Ho Seng Kee, a restaurant in City Square. I hadn’t had it in a long time and since we were nearby, I decided to have a meal there before we returned to Singapore.

I arrived at the restaurant at noon and saw that it went through some renovations since the last time I was there. It was bigger, for one, and it was a lot tidier.

I was seated at their new expanded area and placed my order via the QR code. Although the restaurant was renovated, the meu was mostly the same as before. Even though I was tempted by their Chee Kway, I decided to go for their signature wanton noodles with black sauce and a cold barley drink.

It took fifteen minutes for my order to arrive. I remember the last time I ate here with my cousin, my opinion of the noodles was that they were pretty average. It was the same this time; even though there was black sauce, the noodles were still somewhat dry, the dumplings lacked filling and the char siew was sliced as thin as possible. All in all, it was pretty bland.

Given that it only cost RM25, I can’t say if the noodles were worth it. All I can say is that you will always find better places to eat in JB.
