Polar Puffs and Cakes Review: Delicious 3 flavours Fruity Fluffy Swiss Rolls
Recently, Polar introduced its Fruity Fluffy Rolls series consisting of three new Swiss roll flavours, Golden Mango, Tropical Pink Guava, and Lychee Rose. I was lucky enough to get my hands on them.
After thoroughly sampling all of them, I now present to you my honest opinions.
Golden Mango
Starting off with my favourite of the three, the Golden Mango Roll was soft and fluffy, the cream was sweet and rich, and the mango flavour was mild but able to permeate through the whole pastry.
The sourness of the mango perfectly balances the sweet pastry, making it light and not overly sweet. The small mango slice in the middle of the cream is also a good contrast to the rich cream so it won’t taste too heavy. It doesn’t fill you up like other creamy desserts so you’ll have no problem eating a few more slices. It’s the perfect choice for a light teatime snack.
Tropical Pink Guava Roll
My second favourite will have to be the Tropical Pink Guava Roll. The pastry was denser than the Mango Swiss Roll and the cream was rich and sweet. You can taste the strong guava flavour with every bite. The guava jam also did a good job of giving it a distinct flavour.
However, since it’s heavier and has a more intense flavour, you won’t be able to eat too much of it.
Lychee Rose
My least favourite is the Lychee Rose Roll, but that isn’t to say it’s bad. You can taste the strong lychee flavour when you bite into it. However, I must say that it’s a bit too sweet for my liking.
My main issue with it is that the rose flavour doesn’t really come through. I’m not sure if it’s due to the lychee flavour overpowering the rose flavour, or if the rose flavour isn’t strong enough. Maybe Polar should think of another way to add the rose flavour to the rolls.
Conclusion
The Fruity Fluffy Rolls Trio has something for everyone. For those who like light and delicate desserts, the Golden Mango Rolls are perfect for you. But if you prefer something more substantial, you should go for the Tropical Pink Guava Roll. And if you have a sweet tooth, maybe you’ll like the Lychee Rose Roll.
