Do & Me: Popular ‘Old School’ Western Cuisine

Who doesn’t like a juicy and tender piece of fried chicken with crispy skin wrapped around it? Having been around Yishun for years, I never once visited this western cuisine food stall, Do & Me. This despite hearing from my mother how good it was.  Until most recently, I saw an advertorial on Facebook and decided to visit this stall. The store is located just a few blocks away from my mother’s house.

MY EXPERIENCE

It was a late dinner for me. At about 8pm, the coffee shop was full of people.  Luckily, there was a table for me and I proceeded to the stall for my order.

There was quite a queue and most of them were packed orders.  This gave me time to run through a simple menu listed on their signboards.

After about 10 minutes, it was my turn to order.  I went with the Half Spring Chicken, and I made a special order to change the Coleslaw to Red Beans.  I also ordered an additional Fried Egg and a plate of French Fries.  After making payment, I was asked to return to collect my order about 10 minutes later.  Business must be good for them, and I could see how busy they were trying to push out orders.

About 10 minutes later, I decided to check on my order and it was ready for collection.

THE OUTCOME

Upon looking at my complete order, which the Spring Chicken was served with Red Beans, Fried Egg, French Fries, and a Fried Bun, honestly, the Spring Chicken looks a little dry.  I felt that it was lacking in seasoning.  The meat was towards the tough side.  The Fried Bun was hard.  The French Fries were soft and bland.  There wasn’t any salt in there.  However, I couldn’t be complaining about the price I paid, but sad that I didn’t finish up my meal.

Maybe I made the wrong choice of food today.  Perhaps, the next time round, I shall try their Chicken Cutlet or Chicken Chop, but till then… I doubt I will be visiting anytime soon.
