Redhouse Saigon: Authentic Chilli Crab Singapore in Ho Chi Minh City

I have always wanted to try Authentic Chilli Crab Singapore in Saigon. Honestly, it wasn’t easy finding one.

A business friend of mine, who has spend more than 10 years in Vietnam, recommended Redhouse Saigon. I was told that, it was the first Singapore seafood restaurant setup in Saigon by a fellow Singaporean. Without any hesitation, I made a dinner reservation. I can’t wait to try their Singapore Chili Crab.

THE EXPERIENCE

Arriving at 7pm, on a weekday, Redhouse Saigon had only 1 to 2 tables occupied. I was wondering if I was early for dinner. Vietnam is an hour before Singapore time.

It was not a fine dining restaurant, but it was nicely decorated and spacious. Nevertheless, I was ushered to my table by a friendly waitress.

While flipping through the menu, a tall man stood before me and introduced himself as Gary, the boss!!! Yes, he is Singaporean and introduced me some of their specialties and of course, their well-known Chilli Crab Singapore. Without further o do, I went with Stir Fried Vegetables, Hong Kong Streamed Fish and of course, their Singapore Chili Crab.

We had some casual conversations. Only to find out that Redhouse Saigon has been around more than 10 years. How he brought upon the taste and spicy of the Singapore Chili Crab to suit their customers’ taste and demand. I also shared with him the importance of knowing and using Social Media for business marketing and expansion.

It wasn’t a long wait, we were served. I will not go into details for the Stir-Fried Vegetables since they practically taste about the same and cook in a standard way, but the Hong Kong Steamed Fish was good. Vietnam is specifically known for their fresh seafood. I like the sauce; the sweet taste was satisfying and the fish was fresh. The meat was tender and blended well with the sauce.

Finally, the Redhouse Saigon Chilli Crab Singapore. Hmm… Is good but maybe I felt their lack of egg for the dish could be improve on. The good note would be that the taste is not too far from the ones we tried in Singapore for sure. Generally for the Singapore Chili Sauce, I will give it a 7/10. Not spicy enough for me too but my guys love it. For those who can’t take spicy well, you will love this setting. The crab itself was tender sweet. I love it.

THE OUTCOME

Of course, I will surely come back again because I enjoyed my times, chatting with Gary and I like the simple setting environment.
