Madam Kwan’s: One of the Best Nasi Lemak in Malaysia
It has been years since I visited Kuala Lumpur. This Lunar gave me a very good reason to travel, paying my relatives a visit.
I was staying at Mandarin Oriental which is located at the most attractive tourist area, next to popular Petronas Twin Towers. The view was simply awesome. Ok, I am not going to write about lifestyle yet since this review is about food!
While waiting to catch up with my cousin, I was walking around the mall, thinking where will be a good meal to catch. I came across this restaurant on the directory, name Madam Kwan’s. I always pay special attention to restaurants which are named after the owner’s name and so I decided to walk up to the 4th floor and take a look.
The setting is very simple, giving you a very friendly family restaurant kind of feeling with a very strong branding in front Madam Kwan’s Truly Malaysian Cuisine and this is what I am looking for to start a good dinner in Malaysia.
It was 7pm and my cousin has always been punctual since his office is not too far away, he probably just need to cross 2 roads and that’s it for him.
We were served by a very friendly waitress. When I told her that I am a tourist and hope to have a good view of the mall, she offered us a window seat by the walkway. That’s cool and good enough for me.
While flipping through the menu, I was amazed by the varieties of Malaysian cuisine they have. They have Curry Fish Head, Claypot Tofu, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Satay, Crispy Prawn Noodles, “Wok” Style Hokkien Mee to their signature Nasi Lemak and so much more. Given their extensive menu, it took me 15 mins to decide what I really want to eat.
And so we proceeded with Nasi for me and Nasi Lemak for my cousin. On top of that, I will like to try their Claypot Dofu and also Sambal Kang Kong.
