Wangi Melati Café at Batam View Beach Resort
Many of my clients asked why I do not take Instagrammable photos. My answer is simple. I like to keep things as real and natural as possible. Call me old fashion but I like the way things are now. The original way.
Nevertheless, back to Batam. Yes, today is my final day and it is still early to board the cruise back Singapore, hence, I decided to give a try of food at the resort’s restaurant, Wangi Melati Café.
Upon reaching the entrance of the café, the first question that came to me was, is it open? I was then attended by a friendly receptionist, ushing me to my table. Given the menu, I decided to go for some local favorites such as Ayam Bumbu Siiwangi (Chicken Steak) and Fried Ice-cream as my dessert. Well, Fried Ice-cream is quite rare in Singapore and if I remembered correctly, my favorite spot for it was at Tiong Bahru Market. Ever since it was demolished for renovation, I stopped visiting it as well.
Well, the restaurant was deserted and I am the only customer. It was 1pm then. It is furnished with standard tables and chairs just like any restaurants you will be expecting but they do have a good view of the garden if you are sitting by the window.
A 20 minutes wait and the food arrived. Firstly, I would like to compliment that the photo in the menu was well taken but the food served was not like it. The piece of the chicken wing and drumstick was small and the seasoning was blended. It wasn’t as fantastic as I was expecting from a resort of such level. The whole dish tasted average. But well, I can accept the Fried Ice-cream though.
